covid-19 response

4.3..20

Greetings Aleyans!

I trust all of you are staying in and staying healthy! Please remember, if you need assistance with anything, please go to aleyumc.org and complete the form on the homepage; we have volunteers who are willing and able to assist you!

I want to provide an update about the decisions regarding church; Aley Church will continue to remain closed throughout the month of April. We will reevaluate the situation near the end of the month and make further decisions based upon Governor DeWine and Bishop Palmer’s recommendations. All of our decisions are made with the best interest of our congregation and ministry in mind. A healthy you is so much more important than having corporate worship in the same physical space. If there is a need, please call me at 937-441-0470 or email me at pastor@aleyumc.org

During Holy Week we will have online a Maundy Thursday service at 7pm, Good Friday service at 7pm and we will celebrate Easter Sunday at 9am. Upon returning to worship together in the sanctuary, we will designate a Sunday as Easter to formally celebrate Jesus Christ alive in our lives! However, we need to continue to celebrate Easter in our lives each and everyday!

Our first weekend back we will safely partake in the sacrament of Holy Communion together as we give thanks and remember what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. It will be a time to remember the gift of Jesus Christ and to reconnect with one another as the Body of Christ! What a feast and time of rejoicing it will be! I cannot wait to see the face of Jesus Christ on you all as we will gather again!

We will continue with our online presence for corporate worship. Each Sunday we will go live on Facebook (you can access this even without a facebook account). We begin Sunday services with a 5 minute countdown at 8:55am and service begins at 9am.  Additionally, you can view the Live video on our website by going to Connect (at the top of the webpage) and then clicking Livestream - this page will only be visible and active Sunday mornings. You may also access archived sermons on Facebook as well as on the website

Each Tuesday morning at 7am Pastor Bill will share a brief message and Thursdays at 8pm Pastor Abby will share, both will be live on Facebook. You can also access these moments archived, as well as Pastor Bill’s Morning View on the website. Click on Connect and then Daily Inspiration to find uplifting and challenging messages. These are new ways we are connecting and the good news is that when we return to a new normal, we will continue our sharing through these and future formats.

God is with us! God was speaking to Israel in Isaiah 41:8-10, but God can speak to us in this passage.

“But you, Israel, my servant,

    Jacob, whom I have chosen,

    you descendants of Abraham my friend,

I took you from the ends of the earth,

    from its farthest corners I called you.

I said, ‘You are my servant’;

    I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

So do not fear, for I am with you;

    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Friends we are chosen and loved by the Creator. So do not fear, God is with us!

Peace,

PB
