2024 SUMMER MINI-CAMPS

Aley is excited to be offering several mini-camp opportunities throughout the entire summer! 

Each camp will have a specialized focus that's interactive, fun, and educational. 

Days, times, and ages vary - we have camps for kids and adults! 

Grades are based on students grade for the 2024-2025 school year.

If a Mini-Camp reaches maximum enrollment, you will be notified and added to a waitlist.

  • Camp Firelight - Vacation Bible School (4 years - 5th grade)

    All children 4 yrs-5th grade are welcome to join us as we go to Camp Firelight and discover that we can trust God no matter what challenges us!

  • LEARN PICKLEBALL (4th Grade - Adult)

    Come learn to play pickleball! It's a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton. Once we learn how to play, we'll set up dates to play and have a tournament for fun! Participants should come appropriately dressed for outdoor activity and bring a water bottle labeled with their name. After learning how to play, there will be opportunities to schedule more playing throughout the summer.

  • In the garden (grades 1-5)

    Amazing things happen in the garden - plants grow, animals appear, we see the results of rain and sunshine (and we can meet God there!). Kids will create a garden space and learn about what it takes to get the vegetables and flowers we enjoy. They will also take home things to start a garden at home. Students are asked to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name and dress prepared to be outside.

  • Fun in the kitchen! (Grade 2+, each student must have accompanying adult)

    Come have some fun in the kitchen! This is a great opportunity for kids/youth to join with an adult and have fun learning three different skills in the kitchen:

        -Canning

        -Baking

        -Girl Scout Cookies…not just dessert anymore!

  • Take A Hike! (All ages - minors must have accompanying adult)

    Nature is a wonderfully complex yet simple thing and provides a variety and beauty at every turn! We’re fortunate to have several GREAT places to explore in our area. Moving your body and being outdoors both provide great physical and mental health boosts! Join us as we explore a few of the great parks; some hikes may include extra perks like create your own trail mix, a nature scavenger hunt, etc. Plan to meet at the designated park, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring your own water. See the registration form for more details about each visit. We hope you'll attend as many hikes as possible, but you do not have to attend all of

  • Music Camp (Grades K-6)

    “Masters and Mayhem” Music Camp will focus on Western Europe as we study Medieval music, and travel through time to learn about area Folk Music (maybe even Irish dancing!), Classical Masters, and on into the British Invasion! We’ll also explore music through games, crafts, and snacks. Students are asked to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name and dress prepared to be outside.

  • Puppets & Balloon twisting (Grades 5-9)

       What’s smarter than a talking monkey? A spelling bee… It’s a good thing that we’re not going to learn bad jokes, but you can learn to twist a monkey and bee using balloons. But let's start with the twisting basics and simple one-balloon animals. Everyone goes home with their own pump and some balloons to practice twisting at home! 

       Ever heard of “talk to the hand”? Well how about “talk with the hand”? "Hands with a Message" will be our summer fun theme and for our 3 days together we will learn how to grow in character, make puppets & props and get to work with fun professional puppets. (this is not a ventriloquism camp.) 

    Students are asked to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name and dress prepared to be outside.

  • Local culture & History (All ages - minors must have accompanying adult)

    There is so much culture and history to explore right in our own backyards! Join us for a journey of exploring some of our local culture and history in the greater Dayton area. We’ll explore each site together; some sites may have a guide for us, others will be self-guided. After each site visit, you’ll have the option to continue the conversation while enjoying lunch at a local establishment (lunch will be at your own expense). See the registration form for more details about each visit. We hope you'll attend as many visits as possible, but you do not have to attend all of them to register.

  • Adulting 101 (grades 8-12)

    There are several life-skills that we often don’t realize how much we need them, until we actually need them. We’ll be hands-on learning about essential car maintenance, save your life sewing, easy meals, and fundamental personal finance. Come learn these important life-skills so you’re ready when you need them! Students are asked to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name and dress prepared to be outside.

  • Creative journaling (adults)

    Learn a creative and easy way to do personal journaling using different mediums and techniques. The best part is this doesn’t require you to be creative or able to draw or paint. If you can draw a stick figure you’re more than qualified to grow with us in faith and fun. If you have favorite personal tools you like to use; such as colored pencils, markers, crayons or paints you are welcome to bring them. But everything taught is with the ease and fun of watercolors and everything you need will be provided to get you started.

  • Landscape fabric art (grade 9 - adult)

    No experience needed to attend this 3 evening mini camp for teens and adults! You will use fabric, yarn, beads and more to create a one of a kind art piece. If you can cut with scissors and have patience to try new things consider trying your hand at art quilting. Skills of color, design and texture will be explored as well as options for minimal sewing on a machine and by hand. Starting from a reference landscape photo (bring an original or borrow one online) we will cut, layer and fuse fabrics. Next we will add in some basic straight stitches using a sewing machine or hand stitching. Last, we will embellish and add texture using a variety of materials. Students will be free to work at their own pace and much assistance will be available to those in the learning process. (See the registration form for an example of the art)

  • Art cycle it! (grades 3-6)

    What can happen when you recycle? Art can happen! In this camp we will learn about how to recycle, especially by making art out of things we might otherwise throw away! We will also learn about what happens when we don’t recycle and how to recycle properly. Students are asked to bring their own water bottle labeled with their name and dress prepared to be outside.

  • Knitting (Grade 6-Adults)

    Come learn the basic skills of knitting, no experience necessary! We’ll learn the basics and create a dishcloth, patterns will be available to create a scarf for those who may be more advanced. If you already know how to knit and want to join in for some social knitting, come join us! Each participant will go home with knitting needles and some yarn to continue their new hobby.

    We have lots of great community based organizations that help meet a variety of needs. Come learn about a few of them who are making a difference in the lives of members right here in our own communities! We’ll hear from those in leadership about the needs they meet, the impact they make, and how we can help. We’ll be hands-on and directly serve those organizations during our time together.
